We build chain link and welded wire cages for storing things that need a lock and a clear view: tools, stock, bikes, tenant belongings, gas cylinders, mechanical equipment. In Ann Arbor we see steady demand from apartment and condominium buildings that want tenant storage and bike rooms, and from labs, shops and warehouses that need to separate one area from another.
Each cage is measured on site. Indoors, panels are bolted to the floor and walls, and a mesh top can be added so nobody climbs over. Outdoors, posts are set in concrete below the frost line so the frame does not rack when the ground freezes. Doors can swing or slide. We fit the lock you prefer, from a simple padlock hasp to a keyed or keypad lock.
Tell us what will be stored and who needs access. Fuel, chemicals and compressed gas can come under fire code rules on ventilation and spacing, and an enclosure inside a building must not block an exit path. We raise those questions with you at the estimate. If your fire marshal or building official has given requirements, we build to them.
Cages & enclosures in Ann Arbor: common questions
Can you build a cage inside an existing building?
Yes. Most of our cages are indoor. We work around pipes, ducts and columns and anchor to the slab.
Chain link or welded wire?
Chain link costs less and suits most storage. Welded wire panels are stiffer, look neater and are harder to cut.
Can the cage be moved later?
Indoor cages built from bolted panels can be taken apart and reassembled. Outdoor cages set in concrete are permanent.
